I loved writing this newsletter (formerly known as Ready, Set, Grow Up) and kept thinking over the years that I wanted to bring it back. I finally have the space and time to do so, but I’m making a few changes.
I originally started this newsletter as more of a generalist take on how to do “adult” things. Still, I realized I thrive more when given a specific scenario to obsess over. Blame it on my overthinker and overplanner nature. The newly revived newsletter will be 65 percent advice column, 25 percent links and resources I find relevant that week, and 10 percent total mystery even to me. To get in on the action, submit your questions. Be as specific or broad as you like (I’ll change anything super identifying to protect the innocent).
This also comes with a name change. Welcome to Ask The Group Chat! Over the years, I’ve been the go-to friend for advice on everything, from which credit card to choose for their exact situation to how to set up insurance to where is the best place to stay in a random city for the trip they want to take. In every group chat I’m in, I’m the practical life advice friend. I’m not an expert on it all, but I love to dig in and figure it out for my friends. Let me insert myself into your group chat and be the friend with the answers.
For now, 99% of this newsletter is going to be free. It’s a passion project of mine, and I find joy in digging into a problem and coming back at you with well-researched advice. However, creative labor is still labor. If you’re so inclined, consider a paid membership. As the ranks grow there, I will be creating more paid-only content. What you get:
Access to the full archive
Access to any paid bonus editions
A guarantee that I will respond to your question once per quarter
My endless affection
That’s all for this housekeeping/re-introduction post. New content coming weekly!
Best,
Rae
